Collection
The Bicycle museum is part of the “Club Italia Musei Ciclismo” and has one of the best and most complete collections in Italy and possibly in Europe. Sergio Sanvido is the director of the museum and Fenice Società Cooperativa Sociale of Feltre runs the museum. All bikes are labeled and put in a chronological and thematic order. There are children’s bikes, bikes used for labor , army bikes, touring bikes, racing bikes …
The oldest dates back to 1791: a célerifère (latin: “celere”= fast and “fero”= transport), then there are the Italian, English, French and American big wheels from the end of 1800/beginning of 1900. Among the many racing bikes you will find the bikes of legendary racers such as Coppi and Bartali, as well as Moser, Saronni and Pantani.
Some details of the exposed bikes are quite interesting, for example: bike lamps with candles, ventilated saddles, mudguards with brushes. At the museum you will also find a lot of gadgets, accessories, photographs, shirts, original articles in the historical newspaper “Domenica del Corriere”, showing hand-painted pictures of cycling. An authentic historical repair shop is also planned.
In the center of the museumfloor is a space where we can show you dvds of the history of the bicycle, famous old races of the “Giro d’Italia” and “Tour de France”. A visit to the museum will give you an update of over 100 years of bicycle history in every respect.
